Important notice!
This cycle is a charity event and all participants are taking part fof their own goals and reasons. As you may be aware their are people from all corners of the country participating in the cycle, as a result it is logistically impossible for the donegal Garda cycle club to provide transport to and from Donegal.
A Bus will be provided to bring all participants from Donegal to Mizen and we will all cycle back up together.
We would ask that all participants will make their own arrangements to travel to Donegal to meet the bus on Sunday the 05/09/10 and that participants will make their own arrangements to be collected from Donegal on saturday the 11th or Sunday the 12th September.
The donegal Garda Cycle club will not take responsibility for these arrangements!!
Accomodation on the Tour
On arrival in Bantry on Sunday afternoon the 5th of September 2010 the group will check into their hotel. This will be done by members of the organising comittee, cyclists are asked to wait in the lobby and they will be given their room keys, this will be the situation for the week. This prevents everyone taking part piling up at recieption and causing a lot of confusion, the hotels are covering bed and breakfast.
All Hotels barr the Armada Hotel in Co. Clare have Leisure facilities, which will be kept open until 9pm exclusively for us.
The Hotels are as follows
Sunday: Bantry - WestLodge Hotel.
Monday: Tralee - Brandon Hotel.
Tuesday: Spanish Point Co.Clare - Armada Hotel.
Wednesday: Galway City - Radisson SAS/ Galway Bay.
Thursday: Sligo Town - Radisson SAS.
Friday: Letterkenny - Radisson SAS.
Saturday 11th September the group will be staying in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel, Buncrana but this night is not included, a reduced rate is available for those taking part in the cycle.
We have in the region of 100 cyclists registered for this event. Those participants should forward on their sponsorship money or contact
Conor Mulkerns at Buncrana Garda Station
to confirm that they will in fact be taking part. This is quite urgent as places and rooms must be booked and paid for by mid August. We require that all sponsorship money be forwarded by the end of July at the latest.
Buses will be departing from Buncrana on Sunday morning the 5th September and vans will also be there to bring bikes and supplies. We suggest that those taking part make their way to Buncrana before departure so that upon return their own cars will be there. There are a number of Hotels and guest houses in the area that will be more than helpful and facilitate parking.
On the final night we plan to have a dinner reception in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. Rooms in the Hotel have been provisionally reserved for this event so those wishing to stay in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel can make their own arrangements closer to the time and at their own expense.
Rooms are provisionally booked in the Gateway Hotel for participants of the cycle and are avilable at a reduced rate. Participants should inform receptionist that they are taking part for the reduced rate.

Club Meeting - Tuesday 6th April
A club meeting will took place on Tuesday the 6th of April 2010 at the rec room, Letterkenny Garda Station.
There was a small turn out but there were a number of crucial matters discussed. A new treasurer was elected as the current member is transferring out of the Donegal Division later this month. The new Treasurer is Garda Conor Mulkerns of Buncrana G.S.
A Mizen to Malin group has be established to help with the organising.
It was also decided that for participants taking part in the Mizen to Malin cycle, that they raise a mininum of €350 in sponsorship to cover some of the costs, plus this eliminates people pulling out at the last minute leaving us with empty rooms, which have been paid for along the route. Sponsorship cards will be provided, and they will be available in the coming weeks.
Cycling Ireland Requirements As some of you are aware Sirens D.G.C.C. is now registered with Cycling Ireland and is a fully recognised cycling club. All members details are now logged with Cycling Ireland, However they now require proof of ID/age. By this they require a photocopy of eithor a drivers licence or passport. We would be grateful if members could make a copy of eithor of the above and forward them to Bernard McLoughlin at Buncrana Garda Station, or Conor Drury at Letterkenny Garda Station. They will then be forwarded to Cycling Ireland. Thank you.
Club Kit
At the moment we are currently trying to find a supplier for the club kit. There are a number of options available, links to their sites can be found below. Have a look and leave a comment or email. Once a manufacturer has been chosen, orders will be taken from members and the order placed with the clothing company. For a custom kit consisting of a shortsleeve jersey, shorts and overshoes prices average at around €100, all weather club jackets will be in the area of €50.
